Europe Travel: A Review of Prague’s Appia Hotel Residences

The streets of Prague emit a sense of magic that is felt by all who inhabit them. For both locals and quick passersby alike, hidden gems and unsuspecting beauty await at every turn. The Appia Hotel Residences is one of these gems.

Perched atop Sporkova Street directly under the Prague Castle, the Appia Hotel Residences’s outward appearance displays the same characteristics as other Art Nouveau style buildings in the city. But on the inside, warm and welcoming bilingual staff greet hundreds of weary travelers from across the world every day.

Read below to learn about the 5 reasons you should stay at Appia Hotel Residences during your next trip to Prague:

1. Prime Location

Tucked away in Prague’s charming Mala Strana neighbourhood, Appia Hotel Residences are steps from the city’s most famous attractions.

A short nine minute walk via Hradčanské Namasti, patrons can explore the centuries old Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral.

In the opposite direction heading towards Old Town Square, the ominous Baroque statues of the Charles Bridge await. Via Karluv Most, the bridge is an easy 11 minute stroll on foot, or 10 minutes via bus number 192.

Other noteworthy attractions in close proximity to Appia Hotel Residences include the Museum of Alchemists and Magicians of Old Prague (1 minute walk), and the Schwarzenberg Palace (5 minute walk).

Visiting attractions further away from the hotel is also a breeze. Public transportation to places like the Národní Muzeum in Wencesclas Square, Letná Park, or Prague Zoo, are available from:

  • Malostranské Namesti (tram lines 12, 15, 20, 22, 23, 97);
  • Malostranské (Metro Line A); and
  • Bus no. 192 (to Šporkova)

2. Stylishly Modern Rooms, Suites & Apartments

When traveling throughout Europe, finding spacious accommodations is a challenge — but not at Appia Hotel Residences.

With a total of 22 modern and spacious rooms, guests can choose amongst 13 deluxe double rooms, seven suites, or two large apartments with kitchenettes.

A World of Dresses and I experienced one of their luxurious double deluxe rooms. These rooms are equipped with free high-speed Wifi, air conditioning, plush robes and slippers, and a fully-stocked minibar.

A large LCD flatscreen TV for movies enhanced the experience, but the favorite room feature was the elegant glass enclosed washroom with a rainforest shower head.

3. A Complimentary Buffet Breakfast

In addition to in-room snacks at the mini-bar, Appia Hotel Residences Prague provides guests with a comprehensive breakfast buffet in their cosy attic restaurant.

After hot showers and an hour of work, A World of Dresses and I hopped in the elevator and helped ourselves to an English style breakfast of baked beans, sausage, fried eggs, and stewed tomatoes.

A hot cappuccino and a plate of assorted pastries are the recommended finale. Therefore, sweets treats like cheesecake, crepes, and chocolate-filled croissants are in abundance.

All food and beverages are available from 7am to 10am Monday through Friday. On the weekends, the breakfast is available from 8am to 11am.

4. A Romantic Outdoor Garden

In the evenings, Appia’s picturesque outdoor garden with gazebo is the perfect spot to relax with a book or a cocktail (or both).

Steps away inside at the lobby bar, rosé champagne, whiskey gingers, and vodka tonics are available for purchase to drink under the lights of the gazebo.

During the warmer months, it’s the perfect way to enjoy the sun with a book in hand. The plush furniture with the sound of the fountain trickling in the background creates an ultra relaxing vibe.

The private garden can also be used for proposals, birthdays, and other celebrations by contacting the Appia Hotel Residences staff.

5. Extra Services Packages

Another amazing perk of being a guest at Appia Hotel Residences are the Extra Service Packages. These packages are available to guests that book online in advance of their stay.

Guests who utilise the direct booking from the hotel website will enjoy a generous 50 percent off discount on parking, a discounted hour-and-a-half sauna experience, a complimentary souvenir, and a welcome drink. Sipping champagne while enjoying early check-in made for the perfect experience.

Book Your Stay

To book your stay, visit Appia’s website directly here.

Most importantly, for those arriving from Vaclav Havel Airport or Hlavni Nadrazi Main Rail Station, direct and private transports can be arranged to and from the hotel property.

Regular check-in time is 2pm, and regular check out time is 11am daily.

  1. Traditional English breakfast in Prague? – that’s too funny! At any rate, that looks like a fab place to stay – I’ve heard such great things about Prague, so def know where to check in should I ever make it there!

  2. The was probably one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had at a hotel. Also the location was absolutely perfect and that garden was an amazing place to just relax.

  3. Everyone I talk to says Prague had the best food. Unfortunately I haven’t been yet but it’s on my bucket list. Thanks for these tips! Def saving this for later.

    1. Oh really?! When I lived there I thought the food was hit or miss, but they do have some great restaurants! Czech food can be a bit heavy, but they have so many options when it comes to gastronomy, it’s not just meat and potatoes 🙂

  4. Prague is SO BEAUTIFuL. Honestly, just give me any building with a window facing the city and I would be SOLD! This one in particular is especially charming! The breakfast spread looks good too, which is always my top priority! Haha

    1. The backyard garden was SO magical. We went to the indoor bar and got a cocktail and sat outside in the mid summer heat. It was so relaxing. And just steps from New Town and the Charles Bridge!

  5. It’s been years since my last visit to Prague. I’m due for a return visit! Appia Hotel Residences looks like my kind of accommodation with the delicious looking breakfast buffet, spacious room, and the close proximity to old Prague Castle area.

    1. Oh yes, yes! You should. So so much has changed and in a good way 🙂 Overtourism is a bit of a problem now, but hey, what European city doesn’t struggle with that? haha. Appia Hotel is the perfect location!

  6. Thank you so much for this! I love detailed hotel reviews – they help so much more than a single comment on review sites like TripAdvisor. Looks like the perfect place to stay in Prague!

  8. You had me at complimentary roses and champagne. This place looks divine. I love Prague so will have to remember this place if I go back. Also, that is a really good looking breakfast for a complimentary service

    1. Yes!! It was the perfect location, not too far from all the main sights. I would go back 100 percent, but then again, Prague is my favorite city 🙂

  9. Appia Hotel looks absolutely beautiful! I wish I knew about it before I planned my Prague trip. Definitely keeping it mind for the next time I visit. 🙂

  10. You sold me on location! I always try to stay within walking distance of the attractions I’m planning on seeing, even if that means paying a bit more for accommodation. It’s totally worth it and this place looks awesome!

    1. You had me at delicious buffet breakfast! But I also love that beautiful outdoor garden and the amazing interiors and ammenities.

  11. Looks really lovely, I will definitely recommend it to my friends. Personally I always stay at my parents in Prague, but this hotel makes me wish I would be a tourist there as well

  12. This place looks like my type of hotel. I love that its in a great location and secondly that breakfast looks delicious! I am such a sucker for a good hotel breakfast. Stuff your face and you are good to explore for hours and thereby saving you money when travelling.

  13. Great review! I have stayed only in hostels in Prague but since this is an affordable choice I would consider it for my next trip to Prague! The breakfast looks delicious OMG! Thanks for your honest insight 🙂

  14. You’re definitely spot on about small rooms in Europe. It doesn’t usually bother me too much considering I’m out exploring so much. But it is lovely to get back to a spacious room to relax, especiall if you’re not travelling solo. Appia Hotel Residences look absolutely gorgeous as well, so that doesn’t hurt!

  15. They totally got me with that breakfast pastery selection! Their garden is always super romantic like you mentioned. Whenever I can travel again this place is totally on my list!

  16. Appia Hotel looks fantastic. And your photos are absolutely beautiful. You certainly got me with the garden and the breakfast selection. Would certainly consider this place when travelling to Prague.

  17. I absolutely love your pictures and this hotel looks amazing! I always like staying in hotels near the city centre so I can visit as many places as I can if I go for a short period 🙂

  18. I’ve always been a great fan of Prague! It’s such an incredible city with loads to do. Next time I go, I’ll definitely look up availability at Appia Hotel Residences! Thanks for the recommendation!

  19. Love Prague, there is so much to see and do. I’ve visited twice but still feel like I missed out on so much. Thanks for sharing, I’ll definitely save this for future visits.

  22. This sounds like the perfect place to stay in Prague. I haven’t visited Prague yet but it looks so beautiful. Thanks for sharing your experience there!

    1. Ohh when you go you MUST check out this hotel! It’s in the quaintest part of town away from the hustle and bustle but also within a few minutes walking distance.

  23. It looks like you had the perfect stay in Prague! That breakfast buffet looks really good and I love the cosy decor in your room. Thanks for sharing.

  24. I’ve never been to Prague but when I go I’ll make sure to stay there! It looks so beautiful! Definitely saving it for later 🙂

  25. I love Prague so much – it’s such a beautiful city with so much to look at. Also, this hotel is lovely! I like the rooms a lot.

  26. My word – If only I had this recommendation before I visited. I had the WORST accommodation ever. Imagine something terrible, then… Think WORSE. Makes for a funny story though now that I think back in hindsight.

    1. Oh no!! I’m sorry to hear that 🙁 May I ask where you stayed? Sometimes the hostels in Prague can be….sketchy at best! At least now you know of a good and affordable place when you go back! <3

  27. What an interesting post, the destination seems very peaceful and you har some nice pictures to illustrate that, definitely on my bucket list now

5 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙞𝙨𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙤𝙜𝙖, 𝙏𝙚𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙚: 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩 2!

If I learned anything during my recent trip to @visitchatt, it’s that there’s so much more to the city than meets the eye. It’s home to some of the most popular attractions in the US, sure, but it also boasts plenty of hidden gems and unique local experiences. Add these 5 locations to your Chattanooga itinerary (you won’t regret it!):

- Tennessee Aquarium @tennesseeaquarium. Home to more than 12,000 animals representing close to 800 species, it features two sections (Ocean and River) and is one of the largest aquariums in the U.S.
- 1885 Grill @1885grillstelmo. This southern coastal restaurant specializes in fresh seafood, high quality steaks, and comforting soul food. Order their wings with Carolina Gold BBQ!
- Rock City Gardens @seerockcity. Located on Lookout Mountain, Rock City Gardens features a 4,100-foot Enchanted Trail with incredible rock formations, magical caves, native plant species, waterfalls, and a panoramic view of Seven States!
- Massey’s Kitchen @masseyskitchenlookout. This Mediterranean inspired restaurant just opened in June and is Chattanooga’s new hot spot. The food is incredible and their outdoor patio is perfect for dining al fresco. Order the baked feta 🤤
- The Read House Hotel @readhousehotel. This historic jazz era hotel from the 1870’s has hosted famous people including Oprah, Winston Churchill, Walt Disney, and Elvis Presley. It’s even rumored to have a permanent guest — a ghost in room 311!

Keep an eye out for Part 3 and let me know which location you would visit first! 🇺🇸 {ad} #hosted

If you’re looking for the perfect end of summer U.S. vacation destination, Chattanooga, Tennessee is it. @visitchatt 🇺🇸

I recently spent a few days exploring this lively town for the first time, and unsurprisingly found so much to love about it. If you’re planning a trip to the U.S. soon — or you live here and want to explore more of your own backyard — you won’t regret putting it on your travel bucket list.

To help you plan, below are 5 things not to miss when in The Scenic City:

📍Ruby Falls (@rubyfallscave) Millions of years old but discovered in 1928, it’s the largest underground waterfall in the U.S., and is located more than 1,120 feet under the surface.
📍Wildflower Tea Shop & Apothecary (@wildflowerteashop) This whimsical vegan-friendly coffee and tea shop stocks a wide variety of loose leaf teas and herbs and other locally made products. I recommend getting the Iced Chocolate Chai with oat milk for a cold treat!
📍Lookout Mountain Incline Railway (@ridetheincline) With a 72.7% grade, it’s one of the steepest passenger railways in the world. The ride is well worth it with stunning views of Lookout Mountain from the top!
📍Frazier Five and Dime (@frazierfiveanddime) Anything you order at this North Shore eatery will be 10/10, but I especially loved the street corn with hot Funyuns and the cheesy cauliflower au gratin 🤤
📍Walnut Street Bridge. With a 1/2-mile span, it’s one of the longest pedestrian bridges in the world and provides amazing view of the riverfront.

Which location would you visit first? Let me know in the comments below, and stay tuned for parts 2 + 3!

Welcome to one of the most underrated southern cities in the U.S.: @visitchatt!

While most travelers flock to Music City year after year, just a couple hours drive southeast you’ll find a true gem hidden in the lively city of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Here’s some fun facts about the “The Scenic City”:

✧ MoonPies were invented here! These graham cracker marshmallow sandwiches are covered entirely in melted chocolate and are so delicious.

✧ It’s home to the Incline Railway, one of the steepest passenger railway lines in the world!

✧ Chattanooga boasts one of the largest collections of American art in the country at the Hunter Museum.

✧ One of the world's longest pedestrian bridges can also be found in Chattanooga.

I’ll be sharing more from my time in @visitchatt, and you can also see what I experienced there by clicking on my Chattanooga highlight badge above.
