Chelsea Market

18

We officially popped our Chelsea Market cherry and it was fabulous. It is one of the best markets we’ve ever been to (and we’ve been to alot). There are numerous places to eat including Italian, sushi, Indian and Thai. They even have a creperie AND a gelato shop! If you have a sweet tooth, this is place to be. It’s almost as if you’re at an international food fair.

Chelsea Market has loads of artisan shops that will tickle anyone’s fancy including bookshops, local handmade jewelry and original art from local artists. You can also find some cute clothing boutiques which is great if you’re a fashionista like ourselves. This is a great place to go if you want to buy those unique local NYC things that you won’t find anywhere else.

However, the best part of the market is the beautiful decor. You almost feel like you’re stepping onto the streets of some beautiful European town. It’s quite romantic- great idea for a day date for all you couples out there. It even has a wishing well so don’t be afraid to toss a coin in and make a wish!

If you decide you want big meal for dinner then head next door to Buddakan. Buddakan is a gorgeous NYC fine dining restaurant that serves Asian cuisine. The food is top notch and the inside is stunning. Buddakan has a very elegant interior with extremely low lighting (again, great for an imitate date).  It’s famous because this is where Carrie and Big had their rehearsal dinner in the Sex and the City movie. This is a great spot for all you Sex and the City fans! However, it is on the expensive side so be prepared to spend about $30-60 per person and make sure to make reservations ahead of time.

To get hours and directions for Chelsea Market visit their website at:

Once you’re done at the market. Make your way over to the Chelsea Pier where there is loads of activities to do such as golfing, bowling, batting cages and much more. To get a full list of activities at the Chelsea Piers go here:

Put this on your NYC bucket list now! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

  4. Your photos are gorgeous. Planning a trip to New York City really soon and definitely have to add this to my list. Do you have any other suggestions of where I should go I will have only about a day to look around?

That’s great! You definitely have to try Chelsea Market. Another place to try out is Bryant Park and Central Park. Also head over to Eataly. The 9/11 memorial is really neat if you haven’t been there already. They just opened the new World Trade Center Observatory too- which was a great experience!

If you want a great lunch spot- Try The Meatball Shop!. It’s AMAZING. They have different locations.

Hope that helps! Feel free to email us if you need more suggestions 🙂 Hope you enjoy the big apple!

      1. Thank you so much for all the great suggestions. I’ll try to fit as many of those spots as I can!

Karen, your photos are beyond lovely and I love your fun, fabulous writing style. I’ve lived in Manhattan in the past while modeling, but find that I now appreciate it even more when I soak in it’s treasures “weekend tourist”-style. But you have to come back to Chelsea Market in the wintertime, when New York is (hopefully lightly!) covered in snow to enjoy the festive-themed magic…and again in the summertime for the lobster!

I personally find that alkaline nutrition leaves me feeling my best, but I cannot wait to browse and save your stunningly gorgeous photos + recipies because they’re so breathtakingly gorgeous.

You found my site shesverychic.com so you know I’m a new blogger…but count me in to follow along on your adventures. You’re inspiring, babe!

Awww you’re the sweetest!! Thank you so much for the kind words. I will be sure to follow you as well. If you’re ever in NYC, hit me up! (that was from Karen, not Alex haha).

I live literally 90 minutes away from the city, and can’t resist the charms of NYC in the fall. (I have to get my fill before the winter storms, when I keep my soul and sanity intact by trying to use the fireplace at my house as incentive to get all my friends to come over to my house for candlelit get-togethers (so I can wear party shoes instead of boots, and never have to leave lol).I’ll be in the city lots of upcoming weekends….I’m not sure at this point if I’m writing to Karen or Alex–I need to read your about pages to figure out who is where–but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if we all wind up becoming friends <3
