Do you like gourmet burgers, craft beer, and hand-spun milkshakes? If you do, you need to make your way over to Black Tap. This little hole-in-the-wall eatery, located in the charming Soho area of Manhattan, has become very popular amongst the locals. Unsurprisingly, Black Tap won the 2015 Burger Bash competition at the Wine and Food Festival in NYC (their blue cheese-laced Kobe beef burger was the fan favorite). It’s not hard to see why this small yet satisfying restaurant has created such a big buzz around town. The restaurant’s atmosphere was like a laid back sports bar but much more cozy. The big screens, would make it a great place to watch a big game.Black Tap is known for its very creative and over-the-top milkshakes so we were excited to get our hands on one! Since it was Halloween, we asked the bartender if he had any wild milkshake specials available. He replied, “If you have a minute I can whip something up for you!” Next thing we knew, there was a gorgeous and colorful milkshake in front of us dubbed “The Candy Milkshake.”
Since the milkshake’s main ingredient were jolly ranchers- it certainly took us back to our childhood. It tasted like an extra creamy bowl of Fruit Loops, and was truly the perfect compliment to the brunch.
By the suggestion of the bartender, we ordered the Croissant Burger off their brunch menu. (yeah, we know what you’re thinking…a burger for brunch?) Absolutely! It was, hands down, the BEST burger we’ve eaten in Manhattan (and we have enjoyed our fair share!) Instead of using a regular bun, they replaced it with a flaky, buttery croissant which was filled with a poached egg, crispy bacon, melted cheese, and a fresh tomato slice. The burger was cooked to perfection throughout and was so juicy that we had to use a fork and knife to eat it. Just look at this amazing creation!
While Black Tap’s burgers cost a bit more than your average burger – they start at $14- the quality ingredients used to make each one is well worth every penny. If you’re a burger fanatic like we are, this should be on your “must try” list of American burger joints.
Black Tap also offers a great selection of local craft beer. Some of their craft beer selection includes: Brooklyn Lager, Blue Point Brewing Co, Bronx Pale Ale, Coney Island Mermaid Pilsner, Lost Tribes Weiss Guy, Ommegang White and much more.
